Grassland, Rainforest, Rural settlements & lore

The morning drive will take you to the foothills of the Banasura range, which is the start point for our superb walk today. The initial part of the trail skirts a small rural community before the pockets of shola forest start. There is plenty of flora and fauna to take in, aided by your guides. Dramatic views of the Banasura mountains open up around every corner and before long, you will arrive at a forest clearing, where we will take a break for a short while.

The trail then continues uphill, before the last 200m dash over gravel leads us to our lunch spot – Frog Rock (or “thavala para” in Malayalam). The views here are superb.

Post lunch, we will follow the trail downhill, which winds through rainforest and coffee and pepper plantations later, before we arrive back where we started.
